The Logic of Hip Hop
Hip hop is a genre of music that attempts to entice the listener with regular thumping metronome beats and wise words intended to stimulate an emotional and intellectual response. While being a highly controversial form of music due to its raw expressionism, Hip Hop has survived the trial of the generations and continues to inspire people with its message of individualism, independence and originality.
Started in the South Bronx of New York City in the early 70s, the Hip Hop Culture spread out over the 80s and 90s into a worldwide phenomenon. During this time, it has exhibited its iconic style in a number of ways, including but not limited to Rap Music, Beat boxing, Graffiti art, DJing and various forms of dance like the Break dance, b-boying and other contemporary forms of dance.
Till today, hip hop is not considered a “mainstream” music trend; it is by nature a sub-cultural trend as every person involved in it brings their own unique blend of its elements.
Not much can be said in the way of defining hip hop; however, we who truly enjoy its soulful art know that it will never be forgotten.
